When Newcastle United lost all three of their opening Champions League group matches in the 2001/2002 season that looked like their time in the competition was up. However NUFC becomes the first side to recover from such a position with victories in their last three games over Dynamo Kiev, Juventus and Feyernoord. The Feyernoord victory is a famous result for the Magpies not just in terms of the achievement but because of the style of the victory. 2-0 up after goals from Craig Bellamy the Magpies allowed themselves to be hauled back to 2-2 by their hosts. At this point either side could qualify for the next stage of the competition but it was Craig Bellamy who popped up with a stoppage time winner in front of the delighted black and white supporters to seal a stunning come back! We’ve named the hat after the goalscorer as a result!
